Q: What happens if I lose my encryption Key?

A. If you lose your Encryption Key and the Efficient Data Storage software is still installed on your computer, then you can Print your Encryption Key or Save it to a file at any time using the Efficient Data Storage software.

If you have had a system failure and your Efficient Data Storage software is not installed, unfortunately, you will not be able to retrieve your data without your Encryption Key. This is because in order to ensure that your data is completely secure, EDS does not store a copy of your Encryption Key.

Q: Can I change my Encryption Key?

A. Yes,

you can change your Encryption Key at any time.  You need to log into the administration portion and click on the create new Encryption key button.  Save your new Encryption key.

Q: Can EDS store a copy of my Encryption Key?

A. In order to maintain the highest level of security for your data, EDS cannot store a copy of your Encryption Key. Please make sure that you keep printed and electronic copies of your Encryption Key in a secure, offsite location, such as a Safe Deposit Box.

Q: Can I receive copies of my data on CD or DVD?

A. Yes.

EDS does offer a service that will save your encrypted files on CD-ROM or DVD. The charge for this service is $14.95 per CD or $19.95 per DVD.
